Education

The National Trust offers programs that cover a range of immersive learning experiences and disciplines.

Between 1851 and 1997, Pentridge Prison was the primary remand centre for metropolitan Melbourne following the closure of the Old Melbourne Goal in the 1920s.  The history of the site and changing social, political and legal circumstances of the people who both worked and were incarcerated within its walls, are the foci of a series of new educational programs.

The National Trust offers curriculum-aligned programs in secondary history, legal studies and sociology. Programs for primary aged students are also available.

Tours will utilise the latest in immersive technologies, including soundscapes and audio-visual displays to hear recorded interviews with past inmates, guards and lawyers, and interact with original artefacts.
